Dipka hunting lodge is a privately owned and managed game lodge on 750ha of grassland in the Vrede district, a mere 230km for Johannesburg towards Harrismith.
Dipka means ‘sweet waters’ in the San language. The Holspruit River and various tributaries run through the reserve, eventually ending up in the Wilge and Vaal Rivers.  This is big sky country – the night skies are spectacular - and the space and tranquillity offered are the ultimate luxury. The reserve consists of undulating grasslands, with Witkoppe and Harrismith mountains in the background, and the Drakensberg mountains in the distance.

The main lodge is self-catering, clean, comfortable and well-appointed and is the ideal family get-away from hustle, bustle, stress and traffic. Together with two other cottages, there is enough accommodation for the whole family.

The Dipka Reserve hosts most of the ‘plains’ game species, which can be viewed in their natural habitat. These include: eland, gemsbok, black wildebeest, red hartebeest, zebra, blesbok, springbok and mountain reedbuck.
The bird life is prolific and varied, and includes the Botha’s Lark which is one of the rarest birds in South Africa.

There are a number of dams in the reserve, one of which is stocked with bass, which provides excellent fishing. The countryside is ideally suited for hiking and mountainbiking, quadbikes are permitted on designated roads.
Bring your own food, fishing rods, binoculars, telescopes for star-gazing, cameras, books, bikes, board games for a relaxing, or action-packed stay, depending on your interests.
